The Future of Filmmaking

As of late, I have been so stoked on the idea of DSLR filmmaking. Canon seems be at the fore front of this push (suck it Nikon) and their current offering of 1080p enabled DSLRs are manifested in the bodies of the Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 7D, and Canon 5D Mark II. I am by far not a camera pro (and am now wishing I took some photography classes in high school), but its been so interesting see what each one has to offer in terms of video. Last week I posted about a 5D lecture I attended and how exciting it was. Today I found an article about the Canon 7D on the Engadget website. Cool Stuff!

GIVE Seattle

Maybe I'm biased, but I've always thought Seattle (or more specifically, the Pacific Northwest) has the best local music scene in the country. So, it was I was totally stoked to find out about GIVE Seattle, a 25 track compilation of Seattle bands/artists just in time for the holidays. And its only 7 bucks. And you can gift it to your friends, by entering their email ($7 per email). AND all proceeds from this project (thats right, 100% of teh moneiz) go to Art Corps and local foodbanks around Seattle. It just keeps getting better and better!

Throw Me the Statue, Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band, The Lonely Forest, Fleet Foxes, and The Grand Archives are just A FEW of the awesome Seattle bands featured on this great compilation. See what The Seattle Times has to say about this or check out GIVE Seattle for yourself!

A Shameless Plug

This is still a very young blog (only existing for about 3 hours so far), so I've decided before I get too into it, I should post a link to My Vimeo Page and Channel. I never have any viewers so I encourage you to check em out and let me know what you think. I currently am working on a documentary about the Solar Boston Project and that will probably be up there in the next couple of months.

Grass Courts!

This just made my day. For those of you who don't know, I will be going to Kasteel Well (the castle Emerson College owns on the border of the Netherlands and Germany) to study for the Fall 2010 semester. I was browsing the packing list (even though its still a year away) and saw THIS! I've never played on grass courts, and although these are artificial grass courts, I will most definitely pack my Wimbledon white and pretend I'm on Centre Court. Now I just need find someone to hit with...

Canon 5D Mark II

I went to a lecture on the Canon 5D Mark II last night. The guy talking said this camera is going to totally redefine the film industry. He said they're light, portable, have fantastic DOF, and most importantly... cheap. Lawlz. If I only had an extra 3,000 lying around... Oh, and I forgot. They take gorgeous video.
